Day 18: We discover the Power of the Holy Spirit
Scripture:
Galatians 5:16 – “So I say, walk by the Spirit, and you will not gratify the desires of the flesh.”
Message:
Walking in the Spirit is like sailing with the wind. Just as the wind propels a boat forward, the Holy Spirit guides and empowers you to move beyond your human limitations and resist the pulls of your fleshly desires.
This isn’t about a one-time decision but a daily, moment-by-moment choice to live in alignment with the Holy Spirit leading.
Power of the Holy Spirit: Living by the Spirit means tuning into God’s voice above all others. I like to call it tuning to your own beat or rhythm; It involves spending time in prayer and the Word, being mindful of His presence throughout your day, and yielding to His guidance in your decisions and actions.
When you do this, you find yourself less inclined to follow the whims of our flesh because our hearts are aligned with God’s desires.
Practical tips for spiritual empowerment include starting each day with prayer, asking for the Spirit’s leading, filling your mind with Scripture to keep your thoughts aligned with God’s, and staying connected with a community of believers who encourage spiritual growth and accountability.
Today, take time to listen for the Holy Spirit’s guidance in your life. Perhaps you need to make a decision or face a temptation. Ask the Spirit to lead you and empower you to choose God’s best for your life. Remember, His power is made perfect in your weakness.
Prayer:
Heavenly Father, I pray today for a deeper walk with Your Spirit. Help me to live each moment under His influence, relying on His power to overcome the temptations and desires of the flesh. Teach me to recognize and heed the Spirit’s prompting. Guide my steps according to Your will. Amen.
