Day 4. We discover the benefits of fasting and spirituality
Scripture:
Isaiah 58:6 – “Is not this the fast that I choose: to loose the bonds of wickedness, to undo the straps of the yoke, to let the oppressed go free, and to break every yoke?”
Message:
Spiritual fasting might sound daunting. It often means giving up food for a certain time. But it’s much more than that. Fasting and spirituality are powerful ways to grow closer to God, making space for Him to work in your life. It’s like clearing out a room so that there’s more room for God to move in.
When you fast spiritually, you say, “God, You are more important than anything else to me.”
This act of giving up food, or maybe something else, like social media or TV, helps you focus on God and His desires for your life. Fasting and spirituality are physical reminders of your spiritual need for Him, showing that He is the source of your strength and satisfaction.
Fasting and spirituality go hand in hand because it helps you hear God more clearly. With fewer distractions, we can listen better to what He’s saying. It’s an opportunity for God to work deeply in your heart, revealing things you might need to change and helping you see where you need his healing and renewal.
Today, reflect on what God might be calling you to fast from. Remember, spiritual fasting isn’t about proving anything; it’s about making more room for God, allowing His light to fill and purify your life.
Prayer:
Lord, as I consider fasting, give me the strength and guidance I need. Help me understand what I should fast from and how to use this time to draw closer to You. Show me what needs to change, and fill me with Your Spirit. May this fast be a time of deep spiritual cleansing and renewal. Lead me, Lord, and make my heart fully Yours. Amen.
